Drivers have reported significant shaking and vibrating with this Chevy car also known as the “Death Rattle.” The car appears to noticeably vibrate between 1400-1700 RPM and at speeds of over 40 mph. It is believed that there is not a known fix to this issue as it is related to the drive train according to experienced mechanics who have tried to resolve this complaint.
Clunking Noise When Turning
As well as the dreaded ‘Death Rattle’there have also been reports of a clunking noise when turning. At first, the noise is faint and has been described as a popping sound but the noise gradually increases. Some people have noticed that the noise is worse from the passenger side. Indications are that the complaint stems from the CV joint but GM has yet to investigate this issue fully.
Faulty Brakes
If the car is moving slowly (under 10 mph) it is very difficult to break as the pads are very stiff. This has been reported by several drivers and is obviously a concern. This fault has been noticed when reversing as slow speeds as well.
The NHTSA has issued four recalls for the 2019 to 2023 Chevrolet Silverado which include:
- Missing child anchorage instructions
- Frontal airbag not deploying (x2 recalls for this issue)
- Insufficient welding on upper arm fittings
