Details of Complaints with the 2019 Infiniti QX50
Electrical System Failure
A variety of general electrical faults have been reported by owners including the car powering down without instruction and navigation system malfunctions. One of the more common electrical faults is in relation to the steering. When trying to steer in one direction the car will try to steer in the opposite direction. This defect has been found to be more apparent when trying to park. Malfunctioning seat warmers have also caused concern as some drivers have reported a burning smell which is, of course, a big concern.
Brakes/Anti-Collision
Another electrical complaint that is becoming clear is to do with braking. Drivers have reported that their car comes to an abrupt stop as if someone was walking directly in front of them. While this is a safety feature to avoid collisions, it appears to be happening when there is no collision risks at all.
Gasoline Fuel System
There have been major issues with the fuel systems on many Nissan cars, including the Infiniti QX50. While there has been no recall on this issue yet, it has been causing headaches for the consumers. It is believed that the wrong fuel pump software has been installed causing issues with low fuel and stalling. Nissan has worked on a fix, but drivers are still experiencing their cars cutting out in the middle of the road due to the vehicle thinking it is low on fuel.
Engine Cooling
Drivers of the 2019 Infiniti QX50 have raised complaints about the engine cooling systems and overall overheating of the car. As expected, this problem occurs after acceleration but can happen when driving at slow speeds too. Upon investigation, there appears to be no one part that is malfunctioning but several components, including the thermostat and pump.
The defects described above have been found in other models of the 2019 Infiniti QX50, including the 2016, 2017, and 2018 models.
The NHTSA has issued two recalls for the 2019 Infiniti QX50 due to the following fault:
- No Back-Up Camera Display Image/FMVSS 111
- Air Bag Trim Separation during Deployment
